MALINCONIA DI GIUSEPPE: L’AVVENTURA FIGURATIVA DEL SANTO FRA TARDO MEDIOEVO E RINASCIMENTO

Gigetta Dalli Regoli

The essay is an ample, and richly illustrated survey of the iconography of Saint Joseph, Jesus’s “father” and Mary’s spouse, in European art of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Constants and variables in the evolution of Joseph’s iconography are discussed and documented, according both to geographical and chronological models and trends.
