squareCAPOGROSSI. UNA RETROSPETTIVA
COLLEZIONE PEGGY GUGGENHEIM,
VENEZIA, 29 SETTEBRE 2012 - 10 FEBBRAIO 2013
A CURA DI LUCA MASSIMO BARBERO

Lucia Collavo

The exhibition focuses on the mature phase of the ten-year artistic research of the roman painter, and on the stages in the development of his own personal and highly original language of signs, during the fifties and sixties.
The special care of display of the Capogrossi's works, and the historical research that are the basis of the venetian exhibition, highlighting the role played by the Painter’s art of signs in the effervescent society of the time, make his works one of the symbols of a period lived under colors of the relations and of the admixture of the world of art, architecture and industrial design, fashion and photography.
The exhibition invites to a new critical assessment of the Capogrossi Art, stimulating new insights and suggesting new deepenings.
Therefore, it promotes a new comparison with the works of previous years at the turning-point in his art, of the 1950, inviting to trace the thread running of a long and varied research.
This review welcomes such fundamental suggestion, and proposes new reflections to understand the deeper motives of the metamorphosis of art Capogrossi by 1950, and reveal the hidden side of the never-ending journey of his artistic research.
Emerges the need to re-read the story of Italian art of the twentieth century, and to identify the most proactive of intellectual and conceptual tension.
